THE TRAIN FROM ILFORD STATION
One day a train left Ilford station, but, 'before it could reach Seven Kings the train driver climbed an embankment
and went up into Havelock Street. The train sped along this turning and turned up in Ilford High Road.
The train driver found another way to get to Seven Kings Station - along Ilford High Road. The cars had to get out
of the way of the moving train. This led to them being driven on the pavement, forcing people to walk in a very narrow file. As a result this greatly slowed them down. Police arrived on the scene to try and get at the train driver, who was endangering the lives of passers- by by forcing road vehicles to drive on the pavement.
The sight of a train on the road caught people by surprise.
Before the train reached Seven Kings it went through a fence, down an embankment and back onto the track, stopping at Seven kings. Police arrived on the scene to arrest the train driver for illegally driving a railway train on the road, but, 'as one of the cops tried to climb up the train to pull the driver out he started the train up causing the cop to land straight on his back. The driver left the station, unaware that police helecopters were looking down on him. They swooped down, cut a hole in the roof of the driver's cab and bundled him into the helecopter. In two hours the driver was in jail, Imprisoned for ten years for endangering the lives of passers-by by driving a train on the road, forcing motorists onto the pavement.
